The carnival is a public celebration that takes place immediately before the Christian Lent; to date varies from late January to early March in the year, combining elements such as costumes, parades and street parties.

World Water Day is celebrated on March 22. About 71% of the land surface is covered with water, although approximately 2% is potable (fresh), and should therefore be retained.
